About me

Before becoming a chiropractor, I spent almost a decade working for “the man” in a cubicle farm with buzzing fluorescent lights overhead. My work was mostly database development and web design and I enjoyed it — but something was missing. I kept getting these existential tugs for something … more. Many long nights of soul-searching ultimately led me to dust off a an old, secret dream of mine: to become a doctor.

There was always a bit of a longing to work in health care in one form or another. I would inevitably choose courses like anatomy as an elective during undergraduate communication studies and was often found reading science books for pleasure. My deepening personal yoga practice and issues with chronic neck and back pain — largely due to spending most of my waking hours at a desk — led to an interest in alternative health care and eventually to a career as a chiropractic physician.

Chronic pain? I’ve been there.

Many years working full time and going to school on nights and weekends took a toll. After a while, the long hours sent my health spiraling out of control — I dealt with chronic migraine headaches, back pain, insomnia and anxiety. I went to many traditional medical doctors and took all of the pills they prescribed, but nothing helped.

Finally, I put the focus on making my health a priority and came face-to-face with all the reasons why putting self-care first is so important. As I slowly found my equilibrium again, I remembered the reasons that brought me here in the first place. I know how hard it can be to juggle a busy life and stay healthy. I became a chiropractor to help people like me.

Designing a 21st-century practice.

My experience on both sides of the health care system inspired me to design a different type of practice. One that combines my background and passion for design, communication and the internet to provide women with a web of information, encouragement and support as they hike their way through the sordid terrain of living a healthy, more sustainable life.

I am passionate about natural health and healing, sustainable business practices, environmental responsibility and compassionate communication. I believe that wellness and preventative health care will go a long way toward healing both ourselves and ultimately, our planet.
