Boring policy stuff (and a disclaimer)
Site disclaimer
Here is a link to the obligatory disclaimer/legal stuff. It’s the long, drawn out and boring way of saying that the intention of this site is not to diagnose, cure or treat any medical conditions. This site is meant to be a source of information about alternative health and healing. If you need medical attention, please see your health care provider. If you live in the Portland, Oregon area and are interested in working with me … get more information about that here.
Important policies, condensed
The environment
The current state of our environment is a huge concern of mine. I teach my patients about the importance of decreasing the toxic chemicals we use and ingest on a daily basis. My brain is constantly thinking about ways to increase efficiency, decrease waste, use more recycled materials, etc., and I’m constantly looking for sustainable alternatives to wasteful business practices. It drives most of my decisions as a doctor and a business owner.
Privacy
Your privacy is extremely important to me. I never, ever sell or share or otherwise give away any of your information — unless authorized by you or subpoenaed by a court of law (rare). I always keep patient security and privacy top of mind. Everything is locked down tight.
Recommendations
I do not sell advertising on this site. Every single thing has been written and/or approved by me. The items in my resources section are all personal recommendations based on extremely high standards of quality and critical scrutiny — with a keen eye on one really super important question: will this help my patients?
Availability
For my patients: I’m crazy available. The vast majority of the time your e-mails get same-day response. More general, non-emergency questions get answered within 24 to 48 hours.
For everyone else: I do read everything I get from non-spam-bots. Eventually. I triage e-mail the best I can and promise your thoughtful message won’t go into a black hole (techno gremlins aside, of course). I get a lot of fodder for blog posts and other writings based on some of the questions that come through my inbox, so the conversation usually continues in one way or another.
Insurance
It’s not really news that our health care system is a mess. It’s a bloated and wasteful industry that forces doctors to work for insurance companies at the expense of their patients. I just worked my ass of to get OUT of the system — I’m not super interested in being weighed down by it any further by spending my focus and energy on endless redundant paperwork that ends up costing me more than I eventually get reimbursed (if I’m lucky). No thanks.
Instead, I keep my overhead low and my rates simple and affordable. It’s less about needing you to be in constant pain in order for me to make money and more about on how to sustain myself by providing services designed to keep you well.
