A mind-body movement practice that is good for your body and your brain.

Scientists used to think “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” and we now know that is not true. In fact, our brains are malleable throughout our lives.

The incredible research behind neuroplasticity (the fancy way of describing the changeability of the brain) is really just coming into its own, and we’re learning more all the time.

Shiva Nata engages your whole brain, harnessing this amazing ability of our brains to create new neural connections and pathways.

Quite different from your average exercise class.

Shiva Nata (aka Dance of Shiva) is a physical practice that also gives your brain a workout, sort of like doing a puzzle with your body. It’s great for strengthening your arms and mid-back and works to improve your balance and coordination.

Dance of Shiva happens to be fun and hilarious.

Okay, it can also be frustrating at times because the part of the point is to get it wrong. This is so counter-intuitive in our culture that it can be disorienting at times ~ and there’s space for that, frustration is totally acceptable ~ but, it’s mostly fun and hilarious.

And I don’t know about you but exercise that …

  • is fun
  • makes me laugh, a lot
  • helps my balance and coordination
  • feels like playing with a puzzle
  • or some sort of game between my body and mind
  • helps me solve all sorts of problems with ease
  • reminds me not to take myself so seriously
  • gives me a reason to never do another bicep curl again for the rest of my life
  • stills my very busy mind in minutes
  • gets me focused in the present moment
  • engages my intellect

… is exactly the kind of multi-tasking I like to do.

It’s holistic. It’s engaging. It’s enlightening. It’s good for you on so many levels.

If you practice for 5 minutes, that is perfectly acceptable. Just thinking about it? Yep, it counts.

Do you have to be perfect or coordinated?

Heck no. You only need your sense of humor and playful attitude. We will go at a gentle, relaxed pace. The class is tailored to your needs and there is lots of room for practice and questions.
